Should she cover her face and hair in front of her father?

12208490_10153751746778685_7092062884654335308_nQ: I am a woman who covers my whole body including hands and face. I recently came across some books about purdah that say that a woman should cover herself in front of even her brother and father, except they can see her face and hands only. Is this true that I can not show my hair in front of my father, or is this statement just reflecting the culture of the countries that the writers are coming from? Jazakallah khairun.

The differences concerning women’s hijaab mentioned here stem from ijtihad. What is the Islamic Ruling Concerning Wearing High-Heeled Shoes?

According to Shaikh ibn Uthaimim, they are not allowed since they are besides the norm and they lead the woman to expose her beauty and make people look at her. Allah (SWT) has said:

Do not display yourselves like that of the times of ignorance. (al-Ahzab 33)

Plucking Eyebrows is Not Permissible in Islam

Verily, I will mislead them, and surely, I will arouse in them false desires; and certainly, I will order them to slit the ears of cattle, and indeed I will order them to change the nature created by Allaah.’ And whoever takes Shaytaan as a wali (protector or helper) instead of Allaah, has surely suffered a manifest loss.”

10401570_10153842933358685_6244344465819472278_nQuetion ;- What do you say to Muslims in the United Kingdom who celebrate at Christmas time by holding dinner parties in their houses on Christmas or afterwards, for their Muslim families, such as preparing roast turkey and the other dishes of the traditional Christmas dinner, and they adorn theirhouses with balloons and paper chains, and they do the “secret Santa” tradition, whereby each relative brings a gift for one of the people present and these gifts are brought to the party to be given to the one for whom he bought it, without the recipient knowing who he is. [“Secret Santa” is a new, growing custom among non-Muslims who celebrate Christmas, and is in accordance with their belief in the myth of Santa Claus].
